Digital News Editor– August 2014 to Present

I write news and features content specifically for social media distribution. I created a branded Snapchat strategy for LANG and produce weekly Snapchat Stories for our audience of over 2,000. I manage branded social media profiles and online content for all nine LANG properties. I lead newsroom training on social media and mobile best practices as well as social media ethics and new technologies. I participate on an audience growth strategy team and work with editors and reporters to build the best digital presentation for their stories.

Digital Producer– February 2014 to August 2014

I help manage and post stories to LANG's nine local news websites, manage branded social media accounts for each property and work with colleagues and editors to develop digital and social media strategies. I train newsroom staffers on social media and online best practices as well as teach them how to use new tools. I also work with developers to create newsroom tools and news products.

Mobile Producer– March 2013 to February 2014

I manually curate stories for the azcentral iPhone and iPad apps. This includes pulling from wires, line editing, writing mobile-friendly headlines and abstracts, formatting articles for mobile using HTML and CSS and coming up with inventive ways to tell a story for a mobile audience. I also post on behalf of the azcentral.com and 12 News social media accounts. I am a 2013 Gannett Talent Development Program alumna.

Database/CAR Intern – January 2013 to March2013

I helped to curate and edit the newsroom data library. I requested public records, cleaned data and uploaded the newsroom collection of databases to a shared program called PANDA. I also worked with Projects and Enterprise Team to create an interactive timeline and helped with a mobile application for ongoing in-depth piece on Dallas area hospitals.

New Media Innovation Lab

Project Manager – August 2012 to December 2012

I worked with programmers, designers, students, Arizona State Parks officials and other city officials to develop a mobile phone application for hiking in Arizona. I served as co-project manager and made decisions on the look and interaction of the application as well as programmed with GIS data.

Multimedia Producer – August 2010 to December 2012

I was a fully fledged multimedia journalist for the award-winning State Press. I shot photo and video, wrote stories and produced a weekly podcast about student life and news called State Press Weekly

Homepage intern – June 2012 to August 2012

I was a news desk intern of all trades. I built online-only features, updated and created slideshows, moved stories to the web and occasionally covered breaking news. In my free time, I assisted data reporters and learned SQL.

USA TODAY

Rich Media Intern – June 2011 to August 2011

I worked with the investigative, database and interactives teams on the award-winning Ghost Factories project. I assisted on photo shoots, edited photos, accessed federal archives, built data tables and interactive graphs for publication on usatoday.com and in USA Today. I was also in charge of keeping USA Today's database of fallen soldiers up to date. I got my first taste of programming when I built an interactive graph of box office earnings.
